Talented young winger Jaco Williams during the Springbok training camp this past week in Johannesburg.
The inclusion of Junior Springbok stars Jaco Williams, Vusi Moyo and Riley Norton in the Springbok squad is further proof that Rassie Erasmus has found the right balance between fast-tracking young talent and maintaining the world champions’ standards.
That is the view of former Springbok winger Breyton Paulse after the trio were named among six uncapped players ahead of next weekend’s Nations Championship opener against England at Ellis Park in Johannesburg.
Alongside the talented youngsters, loose forward Paul de Villiers, lock Ruben van Heerden, and prop Carlu Sadie have also been selected as they all look to make their Test debuts for the world champions over the coming weeks.
Ahead of a demanding 2026 season, which got underway with last weekend’s friendly against the Barbarians, the Springboks are expected to hand opportunities to several new faces as Erasmus continues refining his squad ahead of the Greatest Rivalry Tour against New Zealand. The long-term objective remains building an experienced group capable of defending the Rugby World Cup in Australia in 2027.
