The Culture Ministry has unveiled a new digital ecosystem for the National Monument Archive, funded by the Recovery and Resilience Fund.
The upgraded Archaeological Cadastre now contains data on more than 17,000 monuments, 3,160 archaeological sites, 404 historic locations, 818 protection zones and 237 museums, along with new cultural route features.
Culture Minister Lina Mendoni called cultural heritage “a fundamental human right and basic social good.”
She added that its protection extends beyond physical preservation to safeguarding “the historical and symbolic content” that keeps these kinds of monuments relevant.
