The group said the DSS statement was riddled with contradictions and amounted to an effort to sanitise what it described as the agency’s growing role in the suppression of dissent and political opposition in Nigeria.
The Take-It-Back (TIB) Movement has launched a scathing attack on the Department of State Services (DSS) over its defence of the remand of activist and former presidential candidate, Omoyele Sowore, describing the agency’s recent statement as a “desperate attempt to rewrite reality and mislead the public.”
In a statement issued on Wednesday by its National Coordinator, Juwon Sanyaolu, the movement accused the DSS of distorting facts surrounding the events that unfolded at the Federal High Court in Abuja on June 22, where Sowore was remanded following proceedings in his ongoing trial.
The group said the DSS statement was riddled with contradictions and amounted to an effort to sanitise what it described as the agency’s growing role in the suppression of dissent and political opposition in Nigeria.
According to the movement, Nigerians who witnessed the court proceedings, including journalists, lawyers, activists and members of the public, saw a situation far removed from the professionalism and respect for the rule of law portrayed by the DSS.
