Yordan Tsonev has announced his withdrawal from political life, confirming his departure in an interview with Club Z shortly after being removed from the leadership structures of the Movement for Rights and Freedoms (DPS).
The decision comes in the aftermath of a reshuffle approved by the party’s Central Council on June 15, which led to changes in the Central Operational Bureau, the party’s narrower governing body. Several senior figures were replaced as part of what the leadership described as an internal review following election results and organizational priorities.
Among those removed from the top party body were Tsonev himself, Stanislav Anastasov, Hamid Hamid, and Bairam Bayram. While the DPS official statement outlined the new composition of the leadership, it did not explicitly name those who had been dismissed.
Party explanations framed the changes as part of a broader reassessment of structures and performance. The leadership said the adjustments reflected “analysis of the state of the party structures, the election results and the upcoming goals and challenges facing the DPS,” adding that consultations had been held across party levels in the period following the parliamentary vote.
