DPS leader Delyan Peevski traveled on a regular commercial flight, marking a departure from his previous use of private aviation that had drawn public attention and criticism.
Photos shared on Facebook show Peevski traveling in business class on Turkish Airlines flight TK1030 from Sofia to Istanbul, accompanied by only one security guard. The flight departed from Sofia Airport's Terminal 2 at 9:26 p.m. and arrived in Istanbul at 10:20 p.m., according to reports by "Yes, Bulgaria."
The political formation commented on the images, saying Peevski appeared to be traveling like an ordinary passenger, without a private jet or special arrangements. "There is nothing wrong with that. It is even commendable. It was time for Peevski to socialize - among unknown passengers, normal seats, cabin baggage and a common queue," the organization said.
"Yes, Bulgaria" added that such travel arrangements could have been possible without the involvement of the National Security Service and private aircraft, referring to previous controversy surrounding Peevski's flights.
It remains unclear whether Istanbul was Peevski's final destination or whether he was using the city as a transit point toward another destination, including possible travel to Gulf countries.
