Udupi Deputy Commissioner and District Election Officer T.K. Swaroopa on Tuesday (June 23) said every eligible voter should participate in the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls being taken up by the Election Commission of India (ECI). Booth Level Officers (BLOs) would visit households from June 30 to July 29 and enrol their names in the rolls.Ms. Swaroopa was speaking at the inauguration of a training programme on SIR for the elected representatives, supervisors, polling booth officers and polling booth agents of Kundapur Assembly constituency in Udupi district. She said it was a constitutional duty to prepare a voter list under the Representation of the Peoples Act and in that regard, the SIR was being organised across the country. She said the names in the 2025 voter list were being mapped and linked to the family lineages of voters in the 2002 voter list so that no eligible voters were deprived of voting.During their visits to households, BLOs will give a duplicate of the pre-printed form. Voters must fill it completely, affix a current photograph, sign it and return one copy to the BLO. Ms. Swaroopa said the BLOs should take the SIR seriously and ensure that eligible voters were not left out from the rolls.
