Udupi Deputy Commissioner T.K. Swaroopa on Wednesday said the district has achieved 93.95% progress in digitisation of enumeration forms in the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the electoral rolls.Chairing a review meeting on the SIR in Manipal, Ms. Swaroopa said that 9,99,534 enumeration forms out of 10,63,876 distributed forms have been digitised.She said 21,186 voters were found to be dead . As many as 64,328 voters were reported to have migrated, remained absent and had duplicate entries. This includes 29,756 instances of permanent migration, 8,250 duplicate entries, 4,933 absentees and 203 others.Ms. Swaroopa said the number of polling booths in the district would increase from 1,112 to 1,243 shortly. The electoral rolls would be prepared in such a way that voters have polling booths within 2 km radius from their residence.The process of collecting information by going door-to-door with enumeration forms will continue till August 8. The Deputy Commissioner said voters who have not yet filled in the forms should do so immediately and submit the same to the Booth Level Officers concerned.Representatives of political parties said though members of a same family reside in one place, they are allotted polling booths at idfferent places thereby causing inconvenience. They urged the Deputy Commissioner to ensure that members of a same family should exercise franchise at one particular booth.Additional Deputy Commissioner Abid Gadyal, Habib Ali from Congress, Jayaram Acharya and Jagadish Acharya from JD(S), Chandra Shekhar Prabhu and Srikant Nayak from BJP and others were present.16 lakh digitisedDakshina Kannada District Electoral Officer in a statement here said of the total 18,03,766 voters and as many forms distributed in the district, 16,43,831 forms have been digitised so far.
