The mine was located on Monday morning during a follow-up seabed inspection ahead of planned works to extend Pier 6 at Thessaloniki Port.
Following the discovery, the Thessaloniki Central Port Authority notified the competent Hellenic Navy service, which is responsible for assessing and safely removing the device.
The unmanned vessel, suspected to be of Ukrainian origin, was found by fishermen in a cave on Thursday.
