Schotsche Kloof residents barred tourists from entering and taking photographs in the historic area as they demanded the restoration of their water supply.

Water has finally been restored to Schotsche Kloof flats after many residents had gone without it for more than a month.

The City of Cape Town switched on the water on Saturday, about three days after the Schotsche Kloof Body Corporate met with Ward 77 councillor Francine Higham and water and sanitation mayco member, Zahid Badroodien.

The sectional title scheme's water was either switched off or on trickle since May.

The restrictions stem from accumulated arrears, with the municipality noting that the body corporate's debt reached R17 million.
