Wynberg Magistrate’s Court
The court is set to hear expert testimony from one of the medical practitioners who attended to Chantel Pasqualle-Hoorn upon her arrival at Groote Schuur Hospital, as the murder trial of her husband, Duncan Hoorn, continues this week.
The State is expected to rely on the doctor's evidence to establish the condition Pasqualle-Hoorn was in when she arrived at hospital, the extent of her injuries and the medical intervention required to keep her alive.
Hoorn has pleaded not guilty to charges of kidnapping, murder and defeating the administration of justice.
Prosecutors allege that Hoorn assaulted his wife after discovering she had been involved in an affair and that the injuries she sustained ultimately led to her death a month later.
