'Moldova is doing its part. We trust the 27 member states do the same,' said Maia Sandu

EU countries should open all remaining accession negotiation clusters with Chișinău “immediately”, Maia Sandu, the Moldovan president, said on Monday.

Her remarks, delivered at an EU-Moldova summit in Brussels, put fresh pressure on member states after EU leaders watered down language on the pace of Moldova’s path to the bloc.

Sandu said Moldova was technically ready to move ahead with the entire accession file and called on the bloc’s 27 member states to match Chișinău’s pace of reforms.

“We stand ready to open all the remaining clusters immediately, and both the Commission and the Council confirm that we’re ready,” Sandu told reporters alongside António Costa, the European Council President, and Ursula von der Leyen, European Commission President.
