"There's no gun."
Media personality and television presenter Molemo Katleho Maarohanye, popularly known as Jub Jub, has denied allegations that he discharged a firearm during an incident that led to his arrest, insisting the weapon police said was used simply does not exist.
Maarohanye appeared in the Germiston Magistrate's Court, where the matter was postponed to August 24 for further investigation. He remains out on R5,000 bail after he was released following his arrest on June 14.
The charges relate to an incident in Edenvale on June 14, where an e-hailing driver alleged that he was confronted after dropping off a female passenger at a residence. Police said that the driver was allegedly held against his will and that a firearm was discharged during the confrontation. The driver escaped unharmed and reported the matter to police.
Speaking to the media outside court, Maarohanye maintained his innocence and suggested that the truth would ultimately emerge.
