London’s deputy mayor for policing and crime, Kaya Comer-Schwartz, said the mayor’s office stands by its decision to block a £50 million Metropolitan Police deal with US tech firm Palantir, after Met commissioner Sir Mark Rowley said the force may have to cut frontline jobs.
The force had proposed the two-year deal to automate routine tasks and help root out corruption.
The Mayor’s Office for Policing and Crime (MOPAC) declined to approve the deal, saying the Met had only seriously considered one vendor.
