A suspect has been arrested for vandalising IEC branding at a voting station in Limpopo.

Police in Limpopo said it is closely monitoring the Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) voter registration after one person was arrested for vandalism.

South Africans have been urged to register to vote for the upcoming 2026 Local Government Elections taking place on November 4.

Police said their members have been deployed on the ground, and additional resources have been made available across the province to safeguard voter registration stations and other critical areas.

“A strategic operational plan has been developed to address potential threats, with a specific focus on preventing and swiftly responding to any incidents of violence or unrest during the voter registration period,” police said.
