President Masoud Pezeshkian and Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf have reacted in separate messages to a published text attributed to Mojtaba Khamenei regarding the Iran-US memorandum of understanding, emphasizing their adherence to the conditions and considerations he raised.
On Thursday evening, Pezeshkian described the message as a “strategic and enlightening” text, viewing it as defining the macro framework for the upcoming negotiations, and expressed gratitude for the authorization to begin the talks. He wrote that he considers himself committed to paying maximum attention to the concerns raised regarding the safeguarding of Iran’s rights and what is referred to as the “Resistance Front,” expressing hope that a “great victory” will be achieved through the precision of the negotiating team during the talks.
Concurrently, Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf described the memorandum of understanding with the United States in a message as “the beginning of a difficult and winding path,” stating that he would keep Mojtaba Khamenei’s directives as his “guiding light.” The Speaker of the Islamic Consultative Assembly also emphasized that he would not allow the opposing party to undermine the rights of Iran and Tehran-backed proxy groups, warning that the Islamic Republic stands ready to respond in the event of “enemy extortion.”
