President Masoud Pezeshkian states that all stages of the negotiations leading to the memorandum of understanding between the Islamic Republic and the United States were conducted with the “complete and continuous coordination” of Mojtaba Khamenei, the third Supreme Leader of the Islamic Republic, and that the agreement was approved after being reviewed by security agencies and the Supreme National Security Council (SNSC).
On Tuesday, June 30, during a meeting with members of the Society of Seminary Teachers of Qom, Pezeshkian reacted to mounting criticism surrounding the recent Iran-US memorandum, accusing domestic opponents of the agreement of “aligning themselves with the psychological operations of hostile media.”
He stated: “All stages of the negotiations were carried out in complete and continuous coordination with the Leader of the Islamic Republic.”
The head of the 14th government further added that, despite “security considerations,” the final text of the memorandum was thoroughly reviewed by specialized and security authorities and enjoyed the “decisive support” of the members of the Supreme National Security Council.
Pezeshkian’s remarks come at a time when several figures close to hardline factions and government loyalists have claimed in recent days that the administration, the negotiating team, and even certain senior IRGC commanders advanced this memorandum against the will of the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Republic.
