Pezeshkian said on Thursday, April 9, that the decision to move ahead with a ceasefire and negotiations with the United States was a “unanimous” one, taken by the “primary pillars of the system.”
In the statement, the president of the Islamic Republic’s 14th government said Mojtaba Khamenei, the new Leader of the Islamic Republic, had also approved the decision, despite not being seen or heard from since taking over the position.
The statement came as videos spread across media outlets and social media showing anger among some supporters of the Iranian government after the official announcement of the two-week ceasefire between Iran, the U.S., and Israel.
At the same time, Tasnim News Agency, which is affiliated with the IRGC, quoted an informed source as saying that if the temporary ceasefire collapses because of a U.S. violation or because no agreement acceptable to the Islamic Republic is reached, the Iranian government will attack U.S. interests.
Tasnim quoted the source as saying: “The enemy’s fate is clear: either an agreement satisfactory to the Islamic Republic and the Resistance, or the return of America and Israel to being under fire.”
