As we approach the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence and what should be a festive summer celebrating our nation’s history, America isn’t popular even with Americans anymore. A majority thinks America’s best days are behind us, we don’t trust each other, and if there is anything that our divided political camps agree on, it’s that our democracy isn’t working.
