Washington Examiner columnist Joe Concha said Democrats and legacy media incessantly focus on the United States’ perceived wrongdoings, while foreign soccer fans in the country for the World Cup show there is much to appreciate about America.“People from all these countries, all around the world, 10 million will come here for the World Cup, to experience the awesomeness of this country,” he said on Fox’s America’s Newsroom on Monday.Concha highlighted an NBC News poll published this month showing just 12% people who voted for Kamala Harris say they are “extremely” proud to be American. When juxtaposed with 2024 Donald Trump voters, the number jumps to 62%.
“But then you say, OK, well, it’s about the person who’s in power, and then people are depressed on the other side,” he said. “Through the eight years of Barack Obama, that 90% number of Republicans being proud of the country never moved. They believed in the country in general, not who occupied the Oval Office.”
Concha said it’s embarrassing that a generation of Americans doesn’t realize how good they have it, and he cited another NBC poll, this one from November, that showed 35% of Democrats expressed positive feelings about socialism — compared with 3% of Republicans — while only 25% of Democrats felt positively about capitalism.OPINION | COLLINS HAS FLAWS.
