Young utility back Luan Giliomee is ready to grasp his opportunity with the SA 'A' team on Saturday against Zimbabwe in Gqeberha.
Junior Springbok Luan Giliomee is soaking up every moment in the Springbok environment as he shares a camp with some of the biggest names in South African rugby, but his immediate focus remains on helping the South African 'A' side produce a strong performance against Zimbabwe in Gqeberha on Saturday.
The 20-year-old has enjoyed a whirlwind rise over the past few months. After making his debut for the Springbok Sevens and Sharks in the United Rugby Championship (URC), he now finds himself preparing for the World Rugby U20 Championship with the SA U20s while gaining invaluable exposure alongside the senior Springboks.
Although the opportunity to train and spend time around World Cup winners has been a highlight, the Ceres-born Giliomee is firmly focused on the task at hand this weekend.
South Africa’s second-string side will face Zimbabwe, who are also building towards the 2027 Rugby World Cup, and the utility back insists there has been no danger of underestimating the challenge.
