The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert warning of isolated heavy rains for seven districts on Thursday. Pathanamthitta, Kottayam, Idukki, Ernakulam, Thrissur, Palakkad and Malappuram were put on alert. Rain in the range of 64.5 mm to 115.5 mm is likely in these places during 24 hours.The State is likely to receive isolated showers for the next four days triggered by a trough that runs from north Tamil Nadu to Lakshadweep at 3.1 km above mean sea level. Meanwhile, Ponnani in Malappuram recorded 160 mm of rainfall during the last 24 hours ending at 8.30 a.m. on Wednesday followed by Pattambi in Palakkad (130 mm), and Vadakkancherry in Thrissur with 100 mm.
