A yellow alert has been issued for nine districts, warning of isolated heavy rains on Wednesday. The districts except Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Idukki, Palakkad, and Wayanad are likely to experience showers ranging from 64.5 mm to 115.5 mm of rain in 24 hours as per a weather bulletin issued by the India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Tuesday. Further, strong westerlies are likely to prevail over Kerala and the Lakshadweep area in the lower tropospheric levels from Thursday onwards. This is likely to trigger some intense spells across the State fuelled by the cyclonic circulations over the Bay of Bengal.
