Parts of Kerala are likely to experience moderate heavy showers powered by the cyclonic circulation over the Arabian Sea with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) issuing a ‘yellow’ alert for six districts in the State.Six districts including Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam and Ernakulam have been put on a ‘yellow’ alert on Friday (May 29, 2026), where isolated heavy rain is likely.According to a weather bulletin issued on Thursday (May 28), conditions are favourable for advancement of southwest monsoon into more parts of — the southwest and southeast Arabian Sea; Lakshadweep area; the southwest, eastcentral and westcentral Bay of Bengal; and the remaining parts of the southeast Bay of Bengal, and some parts of the northeast Bay of Bengal — during the next two to three days.The upper air cyclonic circulation over the Southeast Arabian Sea and neighbourhood persists and now extends upto 5.8 km above mean sea level. The upper air cyclonic circulation over the eastcentral and southeast Bay of Bengal persists and now seen between 1.5 and 7.6 km above mean sea level.Under the influence of the system, widespread rain is likely across the State for the next four days.
