Water-bombing aircraft and ground forces were striving Monday to extinguish two wildfires in forests in the southern Peloponnese region and on the Aegean Sea island of Skopelos, the Fire Service said.
No injuries or immediate threat to inhabited areas was reported from either blaze.
The Fire Service said that three planes and a helicopter were assisting 48 firefighters and 11 fire engines in efforts to contain the blaze near Zissimeika in the northeastern Peloponnese.
Another three waterbombing planes and a helicopter, together with 15 firefighters and six fire engines on the ground, were engaged in addressing the fire near Klima on Skopelos.
