A Bulgarian man arrested in Thessaloniki on suspicion of espionage over the weekend had been allegedly flying a drone near an intelligence service facility in the northern port city.
The 35-year-old suspect was taken into custody Saturday after a member of the public notified authorities that he was operating the drone, and police ascertained that he lacked the necessary permit.
An examination of the drone allegedly revealed a thermal image of the former Farmakis military camp in the city’s Kalamaria district.
The National Intelligence Service is participating in the investigation.
