A 28-year-old Venezuelan woman was stabbed to death in broad daylight while walking to work along Montrose Main Road, Chaguanas, on Saturday morning in what police believe was a domestic-related attack.The victim has been identified as Mariannys Jiménez, also known as "Sophia", of Sagan Street, Kelly Village, Caroni. She worked as a dishwasher at Panda's Restaurant.Officers were on duty at the Chaguanas Police Station when they received a report at about 9.30 a.m. that a woman who had been stabbed had been taken to the Chaguanas Health Facility.When officers arrived at the health facility, the doctor told them that Jiménez had been brought there at about 9.20 a.m. with multiple stab wounds. Despite efforts to save her, she was pronounced dead at 9.26 a.m.Police later interviewed a friend and co-worker of the victim, who reported that she and Jiménez had spent the previous night together after the victim sought her help.At about 9.10 a.m. on Saturday, the two women were walking along Montrose Main Road towards their workplace when a man dressed in dark clothing and wearing a cap approached Jiménez and repeatedly stabbed her.The witness said she ran into a nearby grocery to seek help while the attack was taking place. She later saw the attacker fleeing the area before returning to find Jiménez lying on the pavement with multiple wounds.The injured woman was taken to the Chaguanas Health Facility by a passing motorist, but she succumbed to her injuries minutes later.
