A Venezuelan woman was stabbed to death on her way to work on Saturday morning, in what police believe was a domestic dispute.She was identified as Mariannys Jiménez, also known as “Sophia”, 28.She lived in Kelly Village in Caroni.Police were told Jiménez and her co-worker, both employed at a Chinese restaurant on Montrose Main Road, Chaguanas, were walking along the road when shortly after 9 a.m., a man approached Jiménez.The man pulled out a knife and attacked, stabbing Jiménez multiple times in the presence of her colleague.Jiménez attempted to flee but collapsed on the pavement after losing consciousness from her injuries.The co-worker ran to a nearby supermarket to get help, but the killer ran from the scene.The victim’s co-worker raised an alarm and passers-by assisted in taking Jiménez to the Chaguanas District Health Facility, where she died whoile receiving treatment.The police were told Jiménez had spent the previous night at her co-worker’s home.Officers from the Chaguanas Criminal Investigations Department and Homicide Bureau of Investigations of Region Three visited the scene and conducted investigations.The CCTV technicians of the TTPS also obtained footage from nearby businesses.Police investigations found that the woman had reached out to her co-worker for help and had spent the night at her home.Police have launched a search for the suspect and are appealing to anyone with information that may assist in the investigation to contact the nearest police station, the Homicide Region Three office at 652-0495 or Crime Stoppers at 800-TIPS (8477).WPC Rampersad is continuing investigations.
