A prosecutor urged a jury Thursday to convict the 60-year-old owner of a Halkidiki amusement park on charges of second-degree murder with probable intent in the August 2024 death of a 19-year-old on a fairground ride.
The prosecutor told the court in Giannitsa that the “Crazy Dance” ride was “absolutely unsuitable and dangerous” – a homemade construction built “without knowledge, without specifications, without any safety measures taken,” and severely corroded.
She recommended the owner’s wife and co-owner face complicity in second-degree murder, along with a certifying engineer who had falsely declared the ride sound; and the ride operator face charges of fatal exposure through negligence.
