A dismissed employee who allegedly ran up a €32,000 bill in a month on a company fuel card that he illegally hung onto after leaving his job has been arrested for theft, police said Thursday.

Officers also brought charges against another five people for alleged complicity for helping the main suspect pull off the scam, and against one for allegedly receiving stolen goods.

A police statement said that the former construction firm employee didn’t return the company fuel card he had been issued, and used after his dismissal it for 350 transactions at petrol stations in and around the western town of Agrinio between April 10 and May 12.
