Police in northern Greece have arrested three people who they believe are key members of a major criminal group accused of committing electricity theft.

Another 105 people are accused of being members of the gang.

Police said the members of the criminal group were tampering with the electric meters of homes and businesses in areas of Attica, Macedonia, Thrace, Thessaly and Peloponnese.

Greek power grid operator DEDDIE believes the damage incurred by the gang exceeds €9 million.

The ongoing police operation is conducted in collaboration with DEDDIE.
