Police in central Greece said they have dismantled a criminal gang accused of stealing nearly €900,000 worth of copper from electricity transformers in rural areas.
Authorities in Karditsa and Larissa arrested 25 suspects during a coordinated operation, while four additional individuals remain at large.
According to police, the group was responsible for 561 thefts targeting transformers belonging to the Hellenic Electricity Distribution Network Operator (HEDNO). The stolen copper was allegedly sold to scrapyards.
Investigators estimate that the gang generated approximately €890,000 in illicit proceeds from the thefts.
