Two runners, one goal: Heemesh Ramkissoon’s debut at the Comrades Marathon and Devan Reddy’s 23rd attempt

VERULAM’S Heemesh Ramkissoon is set to realise his lifelong dream of completing the Comrades Marathon, while seasoned runner Devan Reddy, of Tongaat, prepares for his 23rd race, on Sunday.

The 99th Comrades Marathon – 85.777km – will be run from Durban to Pietermaritzburg.

Ramkissoon, 51, a member of the Woodview Athletic Club, said his journey to achieve his dream started about two years ago.

“I have been passionate about running from a young age. But I never focused much on it until I turned 50. I decided I needed to accomplish something in my life, having reached a milestone age.
