An 18-year-old girl died here on Monday allegedly due to an excess dose of synthetic drug injected by her boyfriend.According to police sources, a couple, who claimed to be married, had stayed in a hotel near the railway junction. Both of them had reportedly taken the drugs. During the stay, the girl was said to have developed epilepsy. Her boyfriend with the help of his friend, subsequently, took her to the Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Government Hospital, where the doctors declared her dead.Police officers who inspected the hotel recovered syringes and drugs and suspect it to be a case of drug overdose. A case has been registered and two persons, aged 19, belonging to Ariyamangalam, were taken into custody for questioning. Published - June 09, 2026 09:29 pm IST
