One&Only Cape Town has unveiled a newly reimagined Afternoon Tea, offering an immersive experience deeply rooted in the flavours, rituals, and stories of Cape Town. Crafted by the resort's chefs, Head Pastry Chef Kutala Motala and Culinary Sous Chef Solitaire Makenzie, the menu celebrates the dishes, ingredients, and traditions they grew up with, reinterpreted through the lens of contemporary patisserie.
Elevated flavours that tell the story of Cape Town
Inspired by the feeling of a traditional South African Sunday afternoon, particularly within Cape Malay homes, the experience honours the comforting flavours and generous spirit of local hospitality. Familiar ingredients appear in elevated and unexpected ways: fragrant spices are folded through delicate pastries, savoury bites are layered with locally sourced produce, and teas are infused with indigenous botanicals. From Buchu and farm-grown herbs to Klein River cheese and regional preserves, each element has been thoughtfully selected to reveal the character of the Cape itself.
