After receiving the call, police arrived at the home, located on North Hillbrooke Trace in the northern suburbs of Atlanta. The boy told the responding officers that his parents had been in an argument that escalated into a shooting. Police said preliminary findings suggest that Richard Holladay fatally shot his wife before turning the gun on himself."Preliminary investigations indicate the female died from a gunshot wound to the head and that the male died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head," police said in a statement, as quoted by PEOPLE. "Although investigations are early and ongoing, detectives believe the male shot and killed the female and then took his own life."Police said three boys, ages 17, 13, and 12, were in the house at the time of the shooting. However, when officers reached the scene, the children were already outside the residence, according to 11Alive, citing law enforcement officials.
