It was a nine-millimeter right straight to the head.”Throughout the call, Mincey was in tears as he explained his actions. He told the operator, “I just couldn't handle no more [sic] of the f---ing lying and the way they were screaming at me. I just, I lost it. I'm so sorry. Thirty-eight years, I love her.” He added, “We were gonna retire with over a million dollars.”McBrayer's husband witnessed the shooting McBrayer’s husband also placed a 911 call, telling dispatchers that he had witnessed the shooting unfold. "He shot my wife in the head point blank," he said. "I literally ran away because I have two kids I've got to protect, and I'm scared to go back up there," he said. He told dispatchers that he brought his wife to her parents' home. “My wife was drunk,” he said.“She was upset. She wanted me to bring her home. So, I brought her to her parents' house, and then she got into it with her dad, and her dad said, ‘I've got a gun. I've got a gun. I'm gonna pull the f---ing trigger.’ And he shot her in the head. And then he grabbed his wife by the throat, threw her down, and threatened to kill her too. And he said, ‘I don't give a shit. I know I'm going to jail anyway.’”
