A new probe has been launched against KwaNdengezi local taxi association-linked security guards by another e-hailing driver following last week's harrassment of an e-hailing driver and his passengers in the inner west Durban township. Two of the three security guards may have violated their parole conditions.

A fresh case of intimidation has been opened against three security guards linked to a local taxi already in custody over the alleged harassment of an e-hailing driver and passengers in KwaNdengezi, with authorities now investigating claims that two of the suspects may have violated parole conditions.

The KwaZulu-Natal Department of Transport and Human Settlements MEC Siboniso Duma announced on Monday that another e-hailing driver had approached the department with serious allegations against the same three security guards who were video recorded brandishing firearms and intimidating motorists in inner west Durban township last week.

The department said it encouraged the complainant to open a criminal case and hand over video evidence to police. The matter was subsequently registered at KwaNdengezi Police Station.

The department also revealed that community members had alleged that one of the three suspects is currently on parole while another only recently completed a parole period.
