Sowore described it as evidence of deep confusion within Nigeria’s security architecture and questioned the rationale behind creating another security structure amid worsening insecurity.
Human rights activist and presidential candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC), Omoyele Sowore, has criticised the President Bola Tinubu-led Nigerian government’s proposed use of Forest Guards to rescue the abducted schoolchildren and their teachers in Oyo state and other parts of the country.
Sowore described it as evidence of deep confusion within Nigeria’s security architecture and questioned the rationale behind creating another security structure amid worsening insecurity.
Speaking during an exclusive interview on Arise Television’s Nigeria’s Political Future in Focus programme, Sowore noted that the responsibility for securing forests and protecting citizens rests with existing security agencies, particularly the police and the military.
“I think Nigeria has reached a level of confusion that we don't even know what we are doing again,” Sowore said.
