Amid growing concerns over banditry, kidnappings and terrorist attacks across parts of the country, the Co-founder of the United Nigeria Against Terrorism, Usman Austin Okai, has argued that the Federal Government’s forest guards initiative cannot, on its own, provide the level of security Nigerians desperately need.
Okai spoke during an appearance on Vanguard’s political programme, Politics Hub, where he reacted to recent efforts by President Bola Tinubu’s administration to strengthen security through the recruitment and deployment of forest guards across vulnerable states. Recall that the Federal Government has, in recent months, expanded the Presidential Forest Guards Initiative, graduating over 7,000 personnel and approving additional recruitment in states affected by insecurity as part of efforts to reclaim forests from terrorists, bandits and kidnappers.
Insecurity : Forest guards are environmentalists, can't protect Nigerians
