As the new academic year has started, the Department of School Education organised one-day ‘Leadership Training Camp’ for the students of government and the government-aided schools in the district in Palayamkottai on Saturday. While addressing the students, District Collector Anand Mohan enthusiastically recalled his schooldays, the mischiefs, academic achievements, the need for hard and smart work while preparing for the school, college and the competitive examinations and the need for acquiring leadership skills to excel in personal and professional sides. “You may be from a humble background... If you are ready to work hard to achieve your goal, we’re here to join hands with you to take you to unparalleled heights by guiding, counselling and extending every possible support. We are here to help and equip you in the best possible way. Let’s join hands to mould you into great personalities to serve the society so that you can be inspiration to others,” Mr. Anand Mohan said. He also lauded Chief Educational Officer M. Sivakumar’s initiative of ‘Honourable Students’ and its implementation in the schools to mould the children into wholesome personalities. Superintendent of Police V. Prassannakumar and Superintendent of Palaymkottai Central Prison Senthmaraikannan interacted with the students and answered their questions that mostly revolved around the social, physical and psychological challenges being encountered by the juveniles nowadays. They also provided the right solutions to the children’s question on conquering those problems. The participants thanked the Department of School Education for creating this opportunity. “This one-day camp provided us ample space for us to assess our personality and to introspect about our strengths and weaknesses so that we can interact with the special guests of this day to weed-out the challenges and be positive in our approaches,” said the children who shared their experiences.
