Tepatasi and No Idea were crowned champions of the Vailima Marist International 7s on Saturday night after wins against Fijian teams in the finals on Saturday night.

Tepatasi beat the Yaro Chiefs 12-5 in a closely fought match that went to the wire. For most of the game, both teams were tied 5-5. Tepatasi came off as the better team as they secured the winning try.

In the women’s division, No Idea met Tagimoucia from Fiji. No Idea beat the Fijians 10-5 in a match worthy of a classy final.

Tepatasi captain Iafata Purcell said it was the support from family and the community of Aleipata that gave them the edge in the final.

“We give thanks to God for this great opportunity and this great win with the boys. Thank you to our Aleipata constituency for supporting us, our coach, and everyone who stood behind us,” he said.
