A thrilling Fiji versus Samoa final has been set up in the Vailima International Marist Sevens with the visiting Yaro Chiefs to face Tepatasi at Apia Park.
Tepatasi had to fight off a spirited Laumua o Tumua 22-19 in a closely contested semi-final. Laumua o Tumua had the services of Manu Samoa international Tuna Tuitama but the Tepatasi team showed grit.
In the second semi-final, Yaro Chiefs displayed sevens brilliance with a crowd-pleasing offloading game that had Tama Uli shut down 27-0. The Yaro Chiefs choked the Tama Uli attack forcing errors and converting the opportunities into points.
A similar Fiji versus Samoa final will also be played in the women’s division. Tagimoucia will take on No Idea.
The delays in the day mean the finals will be played around 9 pm.
