THE KZN Department of Transport is advocating for significant investment in the rail sector to alleviate the alarming rate of truck accidents on the N3.

This follows four truck accidents this week, including a multi-vehicle crash that claimed a woman’s life.

On Wednesday, a woman in her 30s was killed when a truck travelling in the Durban-bound direction lost control and collided with a vehicle, causing it to overturn, and triggering a crash involving several other vehicles.

KZN MEC for Transport Siboniso Duma told the POST on Thursday that they had presented a notice of motion in the KZN Legislature for a debate and discussion on the ongoing public consultation focusing on the Draft National Rail Master Plan.
