Governor S. Abdul Nazeer planted a sapling on the lawns of Lok Bhavan on the occasion of World Environment Day on Friday.Speaking on the occasion, he said World Environment Day this year is being observed with the theme ‘Inspired by Nature. For Climate. For Our Future’. He called upon citizens to actively participate in environmental conservation efforts and promote sustainable living.To mark the occasion, NDRF 10th Battalion Commandant V. V. N. Prasanna Kumar, along with officers Sukhendu Datta, Mohammed Aslam and A. Kiran Kumar, planted saplings at NDRF campuses across Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka and Telangana.At the South Coast Railway (ScoR) Vijayawada Division headquarters, World Environment Day was observed with an awareness programme on environmental protection. Divisional Railway Manager Mohit Sonakiya, Additional DRM (Operations) Srinivas Rao Konda, ADRM (Infrastructure) P. E. Edwin and officers from various departments took part.Mr. Sonakiya said an environmental protection campaign was conducted from May 15 to June 5 in accordance with Railway Board directives, with participation from railway employees, students, Scouts and Guides, and members of the public.Hanuman Junction Circle Inspector L. Ramesh, Sub-Inspectors M. Srinivas and Satyakala, and other police personnel planted saplings on the police station premises.Home Minister Vangalapudi Anitha, State Commission for Protection of Child Rights (SCPCR) member V. Gandhi Babu, Excise Minister Kollu Ravindra and Krishna District Collector D. K. Balaji participated in World Environment Day activities by joining a bicycle rally.Mr. Ravindra took part in a beach-cleaning drive at Manginapudi, while Mr. Balaji planted a sapling at the A.P.
