Youth Month is being celebrated in inspiring fashion by three University of KwaZulu-Natal (UKZN) students who are proving that talent, discipline and determination can open doors to extraordinary opportunities.

Amukelwa Tau, Wandile Gigaba and Lwandiso Yalo have been recruited into Durban City FC’s DStv Diski Challenge (DDC) squad for the 2026/27 season. The trio were officially unveiled during a ceremony at the UKZN Football Stadium on the Howard College campus, where university officials, supporters and football administrators gathered to celebrate their achievement.

The recruitment follows a strategic partnership established between UKZN and the Chatsworth based Durban City FC just over a year ago to strengthen high‑performance football development and create pathways for talented student‑athletes into the professional ranks. The move comes at an exciting time for the club, following its historic Nedbank Cup triumph and impressive debut season in the Betway Premiership.
