Teachers welcome students with flowers and distribute text books on the re-opening day of schools in Dindigul on Thursday.

Children returned to schools in Dindigul district on Thursday after summer vacation. They were welcomed by the school teachers with flowers, sweets and chocolates on the school premises.A total of 1,989 schools across Dindigul district reopened after the summer vacations. At the Corporation Primary School on West Car Street in Dindigul, special arrangements were made by teachers to welcome newly enrolled children who joined Class I and kindergarten.The school teachers welcomed the children with flowers and garlands. They distributed sweets and chocolates to the children, ensuring the children had a sweet and delightful start to their academic journey.A total of 75 children were newly enrolled in the Corporation school. Admissions are going on and more students are expected to join.Ahead of the school reopening, repair works were carried out particularly in the classrooms at the schools in the district. The classrooms were given a fresh coat of paint.Earlier, the authorities inspected school buses and school vans in the district for road worthiness. The vehicles were checked for all safety parameters. Over 500 school vehicles were inspected across the district during the exercise.The officials checked the safety amenities, seating arrangements, insurance, fire extinguishers, first-aid kits, speed governors, CCTV cameras installed at the front and rear of the vehicle, emergency exits, the condition of the bus floor, space for keeping school bags and other safety features.
