Superintendent of Police P. Jagadeesh on Thursday launched the ‘AI Duty Roster’ app, aimed at enabling transparent and stress-free duty management for police personnel through the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI).Launching the app, Mr. Jagadeesh said that the innovative ideas that emerged from the recently concluded Police AI Hackathon are being put to use. The advanced application has been designed to simplify duty allocation for police personnel. The app will assign duties without any bias. The AI assigns duties based on seniority, previous assignments, and skill sets, the SP said. The app is designed to ensure that personnel are not repeatedly assigned demanding duties and that work is fairly distributed, with adequate rest period. This staff-friendly approach would help reduce mental stress and enable personnel to perform their duties with greater enthusiasm, the SP added. The app accounts for weekly offs, festival holidays, emergency leave requests, and automatically prepares alternative duty rosters to ensure that law and order operations remain uninterrupted.Mr Jagadeesh said that the primary objective of the introducing the app is the welfare of police personnel. “The main goal is to provide mental peace to personnel who work tirelessly to maintain law and order, while bringing 100% transparency to duty management,” he said, adding that more AI-based technologies would be introduced in the police department in the future.
