The Hyderabad police on Tuesday launched a Generative AI-based duty allocation system for the City Armed Reserve, marking a major shift from manual processes to technology-driven administration within the force.
Developed in a span of about two months, the new system replaces the traditional method of duty allocation, which officials said was time-consuming, prone to errors and vulnerable to allegations of bias.
Hyderabad Police Commissioner V.C. Sajjanar said that the AI-driven platform would ensure transparency, fairness and efficiency, while freeing senior officers from routine administrative work and allowing them to focus more on core policing responsibilities.
The system uses a score-based allocation model rooted in the Hungarian Method, an established optimisation technique, to ensure fair and transparent postings without manual intervention. Duty allotments are determined through objective parameters such as seniority, the number of days spent in reserve, rewards earned, disciplinary record and health scores.
In its first operational run, the system processed 1,796 applications and allotted 208 duties across categories including the Secretariat, the Chief Minister’s Office, traffic management and interceptor vehicles.
