The Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption (DVAC) on Thursday conducted surprise inspections at 60 Sub-Registrar Offices (SROs) across Tamil Nadu, taking advantage of the heavy public turnout on an auspicious day for property and document registrations.According to sources, a large number of registration tokens had been issued across the State owing to the favourable date for land and document registrations, resulting in increased footfall at SROs.As part of an anti-corruption drive, around 320 policemen and policewomen from the DVAC simultaneously entered the selected SROs at about 2.30 p.m. The teams secured the premises and carried out searches to detect unaccounted cash and identify any irregularities in the registration process. The inspections were conducted simultaneously across the selected offices to curb corrupt practices and ensure transparency in public services. Further details regarding the findings of the searches were awaited. Published - June 04, 2026 08:58 pm IST
