The Andhra Pradesh Cabinet on Thursday approved 34 proposals, such as a new aviation policy, implementation of an organ transplantation law, revised funding for the Polavaram Left Main Canal project, and development of the proposed Amaravati Eye tourism initiative.It also cleared several land allotments for renewable energy and industrial ventures.The decisions were taken at the 50th Cabinet meeting, chaired by Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu at the state Secretariat."The Cabinet approved 34 proposals covering multiple sectors, including irrigation, urban development, industries, healthcare, renewable energy, and rural development," said Information and Public Relations Minister K Parthasarathi at a press conference.Among the major approvals, the Cabinet cleared revised administrative sanction of Rs 796 crore for Packages 5 and 5A of the Polavaram Left Main Canal project, involving canal excavation, embankment formation, canal lining, and related works between kilometre 93.7 and kilometre 111.The Cabinet approved administrative sanction of Rs 547 crore for external development works at the High Court complex in Amaravati, including parking facilities, security pavilions, internal roads, substations, water bodies, and other infrastructure.Another significant decision was a Rs 300 crore government guarantee to Andhra Pradesh Power Finance Corporation Limited for availing a special term loan from the Housing and Urban Development Corporation Limited (HUDCO), with the funds proposed to be transferred to Andhra Pradesh State FiberNet Limited.In the healthcare sector, the Cabinet approved the implementation of the Transplantation of Human Organs and Tissues Act (THOTA), 2011, through an ordinance to regulate organ donation and transplantation activities and curb illegal organ trade.The decision follows directions issued by the Supreme Court to states that are yet to adopt the central legislation.The government said the move would strengthen oversight of organ transplantation and prevent illegal trafficking.The Cabinet approved exemption from stamp duty, registration fees, and other charges on the registration of 49.66 acres allotted by the Andhra Pradesh Capital Region Development Authority (APCRDA) to the Information Technology, Electronics and Communications Department for the Amaravati Quantum Valley project.It approved leasing 46.69 acres of land in Chittoor district to the New and Renewable Energy Development Corporation of Andhra Pradesh (NREDCAP) for the establishment of a solar power plant under the PM-KUSUM scheme.The state government also cleared draft excise policy guidelines for establishing beach shacks on a pilot basis at Chirala and Visakhapatnam to promote coastal tourism.The Cabinet approved the creation of 21 posts for a special court in Vijayawada for the speedy disposal of cases registered under the AP Protection of Depositors of Financial Establishments Act and Agri Gold-related cases.It gave its nod to inviting bids to develop the proposed "Amaravati Eye" tourism project on the banks of the Krishna River under the Design, Build, Finance, Operate and Transfer (DBFOT) model.The project, proposed on about six acres of APCRDA land, is envisioned as a giant observation wheel similar to the London Eye and is expected to emerge as a major tourist attraction in the capital city.The Cabinet approved additional infrastructure works in residential complexes meant for All India Services officers in Amaravati and amendments to the Negotiated Settlement Policy governing land matters in the capital region.Another key decision was approval of the Andhra Pradesh Aviation Policy 2026-31 aimed at expanding airport infrastructure, enhancing passenger and cargo capacity, improving connectivity, and attracting aerospace and maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) investments.According to the policy, the state aims to increase passenger handling capacity from 6.2 million to 30.38 million and air cargo capacity from 6,240 tonnes to 4.27 lakh tonnes by 2035, while also developing nine new airports and 10 waterdromes.In the rural development sector, the government approved the implementation of the Viksit Bharat - Guarantee for Rozgar and Ajeevika Mission (Gramin) from July 1, 2026.The scheme proposes increasing guaranteed employment from 100 days to 125 days for rural households and introducing provisions for faster wage payments and compensation in case of delays.Several proposals relating to land allotments for industrial parks, tourism projects, renewable energy ventures, transmission infrastructure, Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) parks, and public institutions across various districts were also approved.The Cabinet approved allotment of government land for solar, wind, and transmission projects in YSR Kadapa and Anantapur districts, besides industrial and tourism-related projects in Chittoor, Visakhapatnam, Krishna, and Nellore districts.It approved recommendations of a ministers' committee on land allotments and revisions in the CRDA region covering 13 proposals involving about 42.6 acres.
